SHOW - JAN 30th
A little birdie told me I'm playing Jan 30th, NOT 22nd
Texas Ballroom, 3012 S. Archer, Friday, January 30
9pm!!!
this is the TEN BY TEN magazine CHEAP issue release party.
I heard there was going to be CHEAP beer.
Also with CHEAP beer specials like at K-Mart.
This magazine is the r0x0r - come and support freaks like us trying to make it in the big stinky.
I will be playing a banjo a friend gave me, a $3 yard sale ukelele, a microphone I pulled out of a early 80s modem, a $40 used Zoom guitar effects pedal from Guitar Center, and a $10 gameboy from Village Thrift.
But just so you know that I am just a poser, my amplifier cost as much as my car ($450)
Come to www.budmelvin.com and check out some hot cuts from the new CD.
Also there's a link to a song I put only on CDBaby for reasons I can't remember now.
Love,
Bud

Hi guys,
Tonight (8/21/03), if you have a chance, a great musician and great guy is playing a show at the Hideout tonight.
His name is Rob Halverson and he currently resides in Austin, Texas.
I am playing banjo and pedal steel in his ad-hoc band of Chicago misfits.
We did this 2 years ago and everyone had a great time.

Greetings all,
I will be playing this evening, 8/7/03 at 10:30pm on WZRD-FM 88.3 in
Chicago. Tune in if you can.
I think I might try booking a show for myself or something soon - it's been
a while.
Check out the website if you haven't www.budmelvin.com.
I think soon my song is out on the Relax Beat records gameboy compilation.
I just recorded a new song for a Little Sound DJ MP3 compilation as well.
Love,
Bud

And sometime July - stay tuned

Hey folks,
I'm back in town and recovering from a couple weeks
on the road.
So tomorrow night (3/29/03), I've got two performances - come
to both and I'll have to think of a crazy present or
something.
First off, I have the honor of playing version>03.
It is hard to describe, so just check out their
website:
http://versionfest.com
The word "TECHNO" is on the webpage twice, so I will
bring a double dose of gameboy tunes. I'm starting
at 7pm, and playing with some of the most interesting
folks around:
Yuppster
Bit Shifter [nyc]
Bubblyfish [nyc]
Mark DeNardo
8 Cylinder [pa]
Daniel P
As you can see, we've been invaded by east coasters -
and these guys can rock and they can roll.
The show is at the MCA Version lab, somewhere deep
within the bowels of the Museum of Contemporary Art
at 220 E. Chicago.
Thanks to EdMar and Mark DeNar for the gig
===ALSO===
My kikbutt band Roller Boulder is playing at the
Candlestick Maker around 9:00. We are playing with
one of the best live acts around, Kelly Kessler and
the Wichita Shut-Ins featuring Lawrence Peters.
Unfortunately, we have to play right after them and
they are a darn hard act to follow, let me tell you.
I last saw some of the band on a hazy morning in
Austin, getting my caffeine allotment for the day.
It's always a nice surprise to run into these folks,
and it's even better if you go to see them on
purpose.
What's that about porpoises you ask? Well, Roller
Boulder will feature some mysterious aquatic noises,
gameboy beats, songs with singing, a cool electric
guitar, banjo, fiddle, reverb and a lot more.
The Candlestick Maker is at 4432 N. Kedzie and is one
of the most intimate, coolest places around in my
opinion. Their website is at:

PERFECT RUBBER STAMPS
I hope you can make it to a show. I'm sorry to all
the bands I'm playing with - I thought one of these
shows would be Friday so I'm going to have to miss
some of the greatest music going as I hustle between
venues.
I just got two filings replaced and am a little out
of it, so forgive all of the rambling. I have a
website which I haven't updated in about a month:
http://www.budmelvin.com
Also, both Roller Boulder members have submitted
songs to the Def Leppard cover song contest. Check
it out at.

This is yet another free bacon night - I think maybe they're trying to slowly kill me.
I know this is short notice, but these Prodigal Son shows are always a lot of fun. Maybe it's because I always drink $30 worth of Belgian beer. I don't know what the cover is, but I think if 100 people show up, I can just about break even, so come on by...
